Allergies are a huge pain in the neck. They can come out of nowhere and you will be left helpless, under the influence of allergies, for the rest of your day. If an allergy persists, find allergy doctor to get the right treatment.

How Are Allergies Triggered?

This is the question whose answer needs to be known to every allergic person out there. Allergies don’t just happen out of the blue, like we think of. There are certain triggers which can cause allergies to elevate and worsen. Some of the most common triggers of allergies are as follows:

Pollen

Pollen is one of the most common types of allergens, and it is the main culprit of seasonal allergies, especially in the spring time. Pollen basically comes from flowers and it is moved around from place to place via wind, water, trees, etc.

Pollen goes into the respiratory system of an allergic person, via his/her nostrils and can cause severe sneezing and irritation in the nose. Therefore, a lot of people show allergy symptoms during spring and they don’t like to come near flowers.

In order to avoid this situation, it is suggested to wear a mask always, especially if you go outdoors, and whenever you come back in the house, make sure you are taking a good shower and putting your clothes in the washing machine, because pollen can be attached to your clothes and your skin as well, after a long day of being outside.

Dust

Dust is also another major trigger for allergies. After pollen, dust allergies are the most common. Dust can also irritate your lungs and respiratory system, which, in turn, can make you sneeze a lot in dusty environments. Very small particles of dust can easily find their way into your weak respiratory system and can cause breathing problems as well.

When it comes to dust, try to keep your surroundings as clean as possible. Wearing a dust protecting mask is also suggested if you know you are going to be surrounded with dust a lot of the time.

Alcohol

You might have noticed, some people are sensitive to strong scented perfumes, candles and drinks. You could have never guessed it, but this is due to the amount of alcohol. Alcohol can also irritate your allergies and make it worse, which is why a lot of people who are sensitive to the smell of alcohol stop drinking strong alcoholic drinks.

Pet Hair

As much as people love their pets, their hair can be the main cause of allergies for a lot of people. Pet hairs can cause severe allergic reactions, like intense sneezing, swollen face, puffy eyes and even redness on the skin that came in contact with the pet hair. This allergy can be avoided, if you keep away from pets. This is hard for a lot of people, since we love to keep pets and don’t want to part from them. But there is seemingly nothing you can do, when the pet hair is causing you a lot of respiratory and breathing problems. It is strongly suggested that you don’t keep pets at all, if this is the case.

Certain Foods

A lot of people are also allergic to certain foods. Foods like almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts, gluten, dairy products, etc. are the main cause of allergies. To find out whether you are allergic to any type of food or nut, you might want to run some blood tests. The blood tests can tell you if your body is allergic to any food or edible item or not. Once you find out, you have to be cautious of the type of foods you eat, and you have to eliminate them from your diet altogether.

Insect Bites

Insect bites are also the main cause of allergies. Bites from insects like cockroaches, mites, ants, etc. can lead to a lot of allergic reactions as explained by allergist specialists Germantown. A lot of people are allergic to bed mites and bed bugs, which can cause swelling on their faces and redness when they wake up from sleep.
